Standing Meditation: The Wuji Posture
Most guides hand you the shape and stop there. This one explains why the posture is built the way it is — then gives you the thirteen points, the twelve checks, what to do when something goes wrong, and what actually happens over the first few months.

What's inside
- Why the posture works — what "extreme relaxation" and "stillness and emptiness" actually mean in practice, and the one image that makes relaxation click: the bones support, the flesh hangs on the bones.
- Four zones, thirteen points — the full posture, from the feet up to the crown of the head.
- Twelve checks, with photographs — front and side, so you can see what you're comparing yourself against.
- Why this posture is the safe one to start with — a direct comparison with the ball-holding post, and why that one sends qi to the head in beginners.
- How long to stand, and why one long session beats several short ones.
- Problems, sorted into four kinds — posture errors to correct, normal reactions not to worry about, the illness-clearing reaction and three ways to handle it, and the signals that mean stop. Most material online muddles these together.
- An honest timeline — week by week and month by month, including the uncomfortable early part nobody mentions.
Who's writing this
I'm not a master, and I'm not selling you one. I've practiced for five years, I read the Chinese sources most English-language material is second-hand from, and I write down which parts actually survive contact with real practice — including the parts that don't.
That's why this guide spends as much space on what goes wrong as on what to do. The technical terms are given with their original characters and a plain explanation, rather than left as mystique.
Honestly, who it's not for
If you're after dramatic energy experiences or a fast breakthrough, this isn't that, and I'd rather say so up front. This is the posture you start with precisely because it is the least likely to hurt you — not because it's the most powerful. What it gives back accumulates over months, and the accumulation is unglamorous. That's why it works, and it's also why most people stop.
